President Donald trump made the trip to Massapequa Funeral home to pay his respects to NYPD officer Jonathon Diller, who was killed in the line of duty this week.
Trump landed at MacAruther Airport and made his way over to the funeral home, arriving around 2.p.m.
It was announced Wednesday that Trump would join Diller’s family as well as thousands of police officers from New York City at the Massapequa wake.
“President Trump is moved by the invitation to join NYPD Officer Jonathan Diller’s family and colleagues as they deal with his senseless and tragic death,” said Karoline Leavitt, the former commander-in-chief’s campaign spokesperson.
Although it is unclear what exactly lead to the president attending the wake, many presume it is to back his critical stance of the uptick in crime in New York City. In an interview done last month with the New York Post, Trump stated “The local police are not allowed to do their jobs anymore”.
The Massapequa community mourns the loss of officer Diller who leaves behind a wife, Stephanie, and the couple’s 1-year-old son, Ryan.
If you would like to visit the Massapequa Funeral Home and pay your respects ,visitation with Diller’s family will be held at the Massapequa Funeral Home at 4980 Merrick Road from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, followed by the same schedule Friday.
The funeral is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church, also in Massapequa, followed by burial at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale immediately after the service
