Overview

Berner Middle School Fields are home to the 7th and 8th Chiefs. This school offers many different sports programs for students to participate in and has recently renovated its facilities. Similar to the way the Massapequa High School fields have been redone, Berner has converted it la9rge outdoor property to turf.

Berner Middle School has multiple fields including a soccer field, a football field, a baseball field, and a softball field.  Some fields are also surrounded by a track to walk or run on. The softball field located in the back was not part of the new renovation and has been kept as grass. The newly renovated fields offer a great place to train when school is not in session.

On Wednesday nights, it is normal to find pickup games of Soccer going on. The fields at this school are a popular place for local leagues to host practices when they are not being used by school sports programs due to the now great quality of the fields.

The sports programs offered by Berner are a great transition from local Little Leagues to Massapequa High School sports.  These years of athletics are more important to some students than others, as some are trying to decide whether they are going to attend a private school for there high school years. Sports programs have a large impact on this decision, especially lacrosse.

This is because many students on Long Island who play lacrosse get generous scholarship offers from competitive Division 1 schools. The Berner Lacrosse program aims to show students that Massapequa Lacrosse can be a legitimate path to NCAA Division 1.

  • Facilities are primarily used by the Massapequa Chiefs to practice and host home games.
  • During the summer, the football field makes a great place to come train either by yourself or with a personal trainer.
  • Berner Middle School is a great place to walk or run on the track when school is not in session as it is newly renovated.

Directions To Berner Middle School

From The West:

  • Southern State Parkway to Exit 28A South or Long Island Expressway Exit 44 (Seaford Oyster Bay Route 135)
  • Take Route 135 To The Merrick Road East (Last Exit)
  • Continue on Merrick Road for about 3.4 miles East and make a left onto Carman Mill Road.
  • Continue on Carman Mill Road and Berner Middle School will be on your left.

From The East:

  • Take Southern State Parkway to Route 110 (Exit 32 South)
  • Continue to the end of Route 110 to Route 27A (Merrick Road)
  • Turn right onto Merrick Road and continue about .9 miles and turn right on Carman Mill Road.
  • Continue down Carman Mill Road and Berner Middle School will be on the left.
